I learned the hard way that one must match the bullet, velocity, and rifle for long range shooting. 30-06 and 308 WIN, use a 180 grain bullet or heavier for 1000 yards. I shot my 168 grain at Colorado once, and the bullet went subsonic at 950 yards. Great groups at 800 and 900 yards, hardly any on paper at 1000.

Palma bullet is 155 grains, and must be going about 3000 feet per second MV to accurately work at 1000 yards. This takes 44.8 grains of IMR 4895 in the 308 WIN, which is a lot of powder. And, it works best in an accurized bolt gun, although accurized gas guns will do it, too.

Some folks have shot their Mouse Guns at Perry at the 1000 yards, but the Perry folks frown on it. It's pushing that 80 grain bullet just about to the pressure max of the rifle. And, the wind blows it around like a leaf.
