Congress passed, and the President signed into law, full reciprocity across the nation for active-duty police and fully-retired police officers. This brings the Nation into conpliance with what Utah has had for years... except that Utah recognizes *ALL* valid concealed-carry permits from other states not only for officers but all CC permitees.
A small step, but an important win over the anti-gun zealots, this fight has been ongoing now for fifteen years. Some types who *think* they are police officers are not included, as are some types who *say* they are retired officers. Logical exceptions, this law us good as far as it goes; now we need to extend it to *all* valid CC permitees, just like Utah Law already does. Makes traveling a lot more comfortable.
I just couldn't be happier!

Hurray for our neighbor NEW MEXICO
The Department of Public Safety (DPS) has finalized its rules for
implementing HB 641, the NRA-backed Right-to-Carry reform bill sponsored
by Representative John Heaton (D-Carlsbad) and Senator Shannon Robinson (D-ABQ) and signed into law by Governor Bill Richardson (D) earlier this
year. Last week, DPS announced that, effective November 30, the new
rules will take effect and New Mexico will grant reciprocity to the
following 20 states: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Florida,
Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, North
Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah,

*Note: It took me two readings to see all those "D's" after the sponsor's and Governor's names..... Was that because of preconceived ideas of who sponsors citizen-friendly gun laws????????????

"Civilians" with out-of-state CFP's are only recognized for 60 days. If they remain in the state longer, and want to "carry" they must take a Utah course and be licensed by the State of Utah.
