The Box Elder Wildlife Federation, Inc., is a member of the National Rifle Association ("NRA"). Our present membership runs into the year 2009, and we renew for five years each renewal cycle.
So why do we pay to be a member of the NRA, when our basic interests are centered around service to our wildlife and environment? Because of several important reasons, only a couple I'll mention here.
First, we support an ongoing program of firearms safety, hunter education and survival training for young people. The NRA provides good resources to assist us in this endeavor.
Second, the hunter safety program supports the Utah Wildlife Resources in game management and population goals. With an ever shrinking hunter population, this management tool is becoming ever more difficult to properly utilize. If our hunter citizens shrink to numbers incapable of meeting the needs of game management numbers the old cyclic historical methods of wildlife disease and starvation will again manage the numbers.
Third, many of our members are avid target shooters. The NRA is the only way these marks(wo)men have to test their skills in a highly competitive environment. Talk to one of our marksman, like Chuck Shoun, about how you can work to participate on a National level.
Aditionally, if it were not for the combined efforts of the NRA members across the Nation supporting the concentrated work of the NRA in combination with patriotic, thinking, state and national legislators, there is no doubt whatsoever that all firearms in the U.S. would have been outlawed by now just as they have effectively been in the English empire. Why do you think that English-owned S&W rolled-over with Clinton during his hangers-on frantic step-by-step efforts to disarm the American citizenry? And that is a subject too important for brief discussion in this forum.
We admire the U.S. legislators and our President for extending CC authority across state lines for certain properly licensed citizens. We hope it can someday be extended to all honest, properly licensed citizens.
We also admire the brilliant, thinking, legislators and the Governor of Florida who finally became fed up with rampant criminal activity and finally passed the "Castle Law" for their honest citizens. It is a simple, effective, model that other states should emulate immediately.
It is a proven fact, many times over, that a disarmed citizenry is the defacto target for criminals, as well as certain police agencies and prosecutors who are incompetent, or unwilling, to apprehend those criminals. It's easy for a lazy, incompetent, agency to grab a parent who defended their family. A bit tougher, however, to find and prosecute the perp who attempted to savage them. The paperwork involved takes about the same time, pays the same at the end of the month, and is a lot easier to stack up the report pages on the honest citizen defending his family. "Next case".
Fortunately, most of us do not have to deal with most of those problems that exist in the several citizen-disarmed populations. And all those who want to disarm our honest citizenry are cordially invited to move to some place where the citizens are already disarmed, ...and be sure to leave your favorite hired security team in the U.S., don't take them with you.
And That's MHO! Laughing
Best Regards, Old Bear.
